Our Wave Newsletter Redesign
A series of emails constructed for and sent out on behalf of the nonprofit organization
Our Wave
Project Details
I have volunteered at Our Wave since April 2023, helping them completely restructure
and redesign their newsletter system. Previously, they had been sending out infrequent and long emails for
all updates. These were off-brand, bulleted lists that did not fully represent who they are as an
organization and what they wanted to share with partners and their community. I have since been the lead on
writing and sending these emails out multiple times a month, designing templates first in Figma with their
lead Desginer before templating and
formatting them in the platform Sendgrid. I have mapped out and helped them to create newsletter and
subscriber groups
focusing on partner updates, donation inquiries, monthly blog updates, upcoming events, and impact reports.

This template was set up to automatically send out to anyone that newly
signed up for the Our Wave newsletter, introducing them to the leadership team and recognizing some of
the organization's partners. This was all designed to mimic their web platform's brand.
This email sent out for Giving Tuesday was the first use of this template,
asking viewers for donations, promoting their shop's items in time for the holidays, and promoting the
organization's social media.
Monthly blog updates were sent out as newsletters to both bring traction to
the website itself and share the stories that our audience might have missed in the previous weeks. This
did a great job at bringing more popularity to the Making Waves blog page.
The impact report newsletter was the most difficult one to create of my time
with this team. The amount of information that needed to be conveyed was a lot and I wanted to move away
from their previous strategy of listing things in an overwhelming manner. The final design was a
combination of images and short copy that ultimately was approved and even used to share partner impact
metrics across subscriber lists.
